San Lorenzo President Sergio Costantino on Club's Crisis

President of San Lorenzo, Sergio Costantino, made a strong diagnosis of the institutional and economic situation the club is going through, by acknowledging that the entity was practically paralyzed when he took over. "We have to speak the truth and together we are moving the club forward," he stated in radio statements, according to the Argentine News Agency. In this sense, Costantino was forceful in describing the scenario he encountered: "In September 2025, the club's tap was turned off and nothing was paid. We gave the club operational capacity, even banking, which it did not have," he explained on DSports Radio, referring to the period of vacancy and crisis that San Lorenzo went through before the current management. The president especially valued the support of the members to lift the liens that weighed on the institution and assured that those contributions will be refunded: "We thank the members who collaborated to lift the liens and we will return the money. I think about daily management and laying the foundations for a future government," although he clarified that the debate must transcend proper names: "We must discuss the club we want and project a future beyond the people." Finally, Costantino addressed the transfer market and explained the stance taken in the face of offers received for players in the squad. "We defended our asset because we did not agree with what River Plate and Boca Juniors offered," he indicated regarding the cases of Romaña and Cuello. Additionally, he confirmed that "Altamirano and Herazo are players on the squad until something else comes up" and anticipated that the leadership is evaluating lending other players to balance the squad and finances. "In the future, the idea is to fulfill everyone: former players, suppliers or whoever it may be." Costantino also referred to his personal role within the club and his bond with the fans, marking a distance from previous managements: "I learned not to believe my own hype, I am a member and a fan like any other."
